About Me...
Er.... music. Some music. Some more music. A gig. Some music. Music. And er... a bit more music.
Music Tastes...
Anything touched by the hand of mod.... soul, R&B, blues, jazz, power pop, freakbeat, beat, mod revival, ska and rocksteady and some nice psychedelia but...
...been getting into a lot of mad folk lately. Acid-y folk mostly.... newer bands and singers.
First ever record/cd you remember listening to...
Demis Rousoss - Happy To Be On An Island In The Sun.
A fat man in a kaftan played on repeat by my mother. The scars were deep and only relieved by the discovery later on that he'd been in Aphrodite's Child, responsible for one of my favourite all time psychy freakbeaty groovers.... Magic Mirror.
First ever record/cd you remember buying...
I was going to say Oliver's Army by Elvis C, or Bang Bang by BA Robertson so I look much cooler than I actually am... but I think reality was more cringeworthy. It was Hail To The Kop by Liverpool FC, from Liscard Market - Wallasey's premier high end retail area.
Best live performance you’ve seen...
The Prisoners.... greatest live band ever in my humble opinion. Graham Day's later bands were pretty good too - the Solarflare's at the Lomax in Liverpool was pretty damn good. These Animal Men were amazing too, and er... well.... KulaShaker deserve an honourable mention too. Honestly.
Lately Duffy in a dive in Leeds, with a mixture of old time soulies and new time student scroungers was pretty special too.
Favourite radio stations...
Radio 6.
Favourite music magazines and papers...
Extraordinary Sensations, Maximum Speed, Go Go, In The Crowd..... RIP
Worst song ever...
I would happily kill every member of M People for destroying Itchycoo Park. Good prices paid for full address details...
