Twenty years ago, I was working in a hospital in Fort Worth Texas. I had been there for just over 6 years, and was perfectly happy with my life (Well who isn't happy at 26yrs old?)I am from Wales, a small country tacked onto the western edge of the British Isles. I had always intended to return home to Wales one day, but had no immediate plans to do so, until I walked into a patient's room one night. He had fallen asleep with the TV on, i picked up the remote to turn it off and stopped because the tv was showing the film 'ZULU' I had walked in just as an overwhelming force of Zulus were about to attack the South Wales Borderers. the Zulus were singing their battle song, and Stanley Baker turned to Ivor Emmanuel and asked if the Welsh could do any better. Well, Ivor started to sing 'Men of Harlech' and I stood transfixed, tears filled my eyes and I wanted to go home right then. That was 24 years ago, I did come home to Wales and even now while typing this with the youtube clip playing in the background the tears are rolling down my face.
