Q. How do i add a YouTube video?

A. How do I add a youtube video to my music brick?

Once you’ve done this and have been successful, it’ll become and absolute breeze for the next one.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7 then click on the ‘New tab’ button to open up another page…

Type youtube.com in the top bar.

If you’re not using Internet Explorer 7 then double click on your internet service provider again (ie Yahoo, AOL, Virgin etc) and open up another window, then type youtube.com in the top bar.

1. In the search bar near the top of the page type in you song title and artist; e.g. Queen fat bottomed girls.

2. Choose which video you want to use by clicking on it.

3. To the right of the video is the word ‘Embed’. In the box next to the word ‘Embed’ click on the code (it will turn blue). Now right click on the code and select copy from the drop down list.

4. Return to musicbrick.com and to the music brick you’re creating. In the box next to ‘Embed your video’ right click in the box and select paste from the drop down box. All the code from the youtube video will be pasted directly into this box.

5. That’s it! Finish your music brick and click ‘Add your musicbrick’ at the bottom of the page. Now go and see your musicbrick in the ‘recently added’ on the homepage.

How do I become a member?
In every area and on every page of musicbrick.com at the top of each webpage is the navigation bar.  One of those buttons is named REGISTER by clicking on the REGISTER button you will be taken to the free registration area.  You’re now almost there to becoming a hugely important part in the building of the tallest virtual structure in the world at musicbrick.com

Why do you want my date of birth?
We ask for your approximate date of birth.  By answering this question you give the opportunity for visitors and members to appreciate why or how a piece of music has made an impact in your life.

Why do you want to know my country of residence?
It allows visitors and members of musicbrick.com the opportunity to see the diversity of submissions from around the world.

Do I have to complete a profile to add a Musicbrick?
You will need to open a free account to add a Musicbrick and there are a number of mandatory questions; Name, Password etc but you do not need to complete your profile, this is completely at your discretion.

Can I come back later to add profile details?
At any point you may change any or all of your profile details.

Will I receive lots of music spam?
Musicbrick.com prides itself on being completely dedicated to music; your details are kept in our secure server and will not be sold or distributed to external companies without your express permission.  Pleas take a look at our Privacy statement.

WHAT IS A MUSICBRICK?

What is a Musicbrick?
A music brick is basically a slice of history, a unique snapshot of life; memories, experiences, inspirations, centred around a particular song.  Creating a library of mini time capsules describing events happening around a particular song, artist or musical era.  

Will my Musicbrick be unique?
Your personal experience to a particular song is what is unique along with the exclusive position your Musicbrick owns in the Musicwall.  The song you’ve chosen may have thousands of different meanings to different people around the world.  The strength of musicbrick.com is the diversity of experience one song can bring.
How do I create a Musicbrick?
Before you can create, fix and own your exclusive position in the Musicwall you must first register and open a free account, then you can add as many Musicbrick’s as you like.

Can I create a Musicbrick without adding a video?
Of course, that’s you choice, but adding a video gives members and visitors the opportunity to listen to the piece of music you’ve taken the time to write about.

Is it legal to download a video from Youtube?
All the videos on musicbrick.com are streamed directly from youtube.com, this means the video you see and hear is being played directly from youtube.com’s website.  musicbrick.com does not have the facility to download music.

How do I add a video?

Can I add a video later?
Yes, simply login to your account, click on ‘Musicbrick’s’, scroll down to find the Musicbrick you would like to add the video to and click ‘edit’.  Then simply copy and paste the youtube video ‘embed code’ (alternatively read ‘How can I add a video’ and then click ‘update Musicbrick’

Can I change a video?
Yes,  simply login to your account, click on ‘Musicbrick’s’, scroll down to find the Musicbrick you would like to change the video to and click ‘edit’.  Then simply copy and paste the youtube video embed code (alternatively read ‘How can I add a video’ and then simply copy and paste the youtube video embed code (alternatively read ‘How can I add a video’ and then click ‘update Musicbrick’

Can I change what I say on my Musicbrick?
Yes,  simply login to your account, click on ‘Musicbrick’s’, scroll down to find the Musicbrick you would like to change click ‘edit’.  Then simply change the text and click ‘Update Musicbrick’

Can I customise my Musicbrick?
Unfortunately, at this stage we do not have the facility to customise musicbrick’s

Can I remove one of my Musicbricks?
No, unfortunately you can not delete a Musicbrick, but you can delete the text and click ‘Update Musicbrick’.  This will remove the story, opinion, etc from the Musicbrick.

Musicwall

What is a Musicwall?
The Musicwall is the accumulation of Musicbrick’s submitted by the members of musicbrick.com.  The Musicwall is updated in real time as each new Musicbrick is created and submitted.  Each and every Musicbrick owns a unique and exclusive position in the Musicwall and will become a hugely important part in building the tallest virtual structure in the world.

How big is a Musicbrick?
A Musicbrick is approximately the same size as a normal house brick 22.5cm by 11.5cm
How wide is the Musicwall?
The Musicwall is 3 metres wide or nine musicbricks across.
How high is the Musicwall?
The Musicwall is updated in real time, as each new musicbrick is created and fixed into the Musicwall, The exact size can be found on the homepage on the top of the Musicwall window.
Can I customise the Musicwall?
No, not at this moment in time.

Top 30

How does a Musicbrick get into the Top 30?
At the bottom of each Musicbrick is the option to vote for a Musicbrick either ‘thumbs up’ or thumbs down’.  The voting system counts each vote given; ‘Thumbs up’ adds one vote, ‘Thumbs down’ takes one vote away. 

Can I re-rate a Musicbrick if I make mistake?
No, unfortunately the system allows only one vote on any individual Musicbrick.  This system was chosen to prevent abuse.

Messages

Can I add a comment to a Musicbrick?
Yes, once you have registered and logged in you can leave comments on a Musicbrick.  If you forget to login and try to leave a comment you will be prompted to login and then taken back to the Musicbrick you were last viewing.

Can I send messages to people about their Musicbricks?
Yes, you have 3 options; either in a Musicbrick or on a members homepage and there is the facility to send a private message to that person using the ‘send me a private message’ located in the ‘ABOUT THE AUTHOR’ section.  Simply click on it, write your message and click ‘Send’.

Can I change my comments on a Musicbrick?
Unfortunately, once a comment has been left you do not have scope to change that comment.  If you wish to amend a comment or delete it please use the ‘Contact Us’ giving the reason and details you wish to have changed and we will endeavour to correct your message.

What can I do if I receive an inappropriate comment
Please inform us immediately using the ‘Contact Us’ giving the reason and details of the comment.  You will be contacted within 5 working days by the musicbrick.com team outlining any infringement in our Terms and Conditions and possible remedies. 

Can I add comments about a member?
You may send comments to an individual member from their homepage or one of their Musicbrick’s using the ‘Send me a private Message’ located in the ‘ABOUT THE AUTHOR’ section.  Please note this is a private messaging system and cannot be viewed by other members or visitors.

Can I change my comments about a member?
Unfortunately, once a comment has been left you do not have scope to change that comment.  If you wish to amend a comment or delete it please use the ‘Contact Us’ giving the reason and details you wish to have changed.
