This is the musicbrick page for THE CULT OF WEDGE. After too many years of messing about in bands, i discovered the delights of the drum machine and sampler. I launched myself wildly at an unsuspecting computer to concoct what soon became the first ever CULT OF WEDGE tunes. After being bought up on a diet of rock from the 70s and electronic music from the 80s , i wondered if i could incorporate some of these elements with modern dance and funk type music. I think this has grown from its humble-ish beginnings, into a more, well, almost "sound". I like to incorporate a lot of the sounds from albums i grew up with, featuring mellotrons, moogs, string synths, and of course the obscene noise of the electric guitar and bass. Along the way, the sonic arsenal has expanded to include theremins, stylophones, and all manner of percussion bits and bobs. The voices are still a big feature of the c.o.w. sound, hence the 1st e.p. title "electronic voice phenomena" My tunes may not sound like Rush to a banging house beat, or a drum and bass genesis, they may not even sound like music to some, but for what its worth, i like em. Hope you do too.......
What songs inspired you to become a musician/s…...
Theres too many!
Put it this way.....I can only liken CULT OF WEDGE top this, its a bit like a car crash involving members of - E.L.O, Genesis, Human League, Kraftwerk, Motorhead and Yes. With John Shaft and Starsky and Hutch being the first on the scene, with Beck and Air driving the ambulances!
